Adidas Artist Pack now available online at Footasylum

Forum x Dalek

New York’s Dalek has reworked the early 80’s court innovation that is the Forum Mid. With its plethora of panelling and technical features, added texture comes from a series of different leathers, ranging from sturdy tumbled surfaces overlaid on the supersoft leather with a recurring “Space Monkey’ print. Black and grey sits sombrely at odds with the characters, complimented by a sudden burst of colour on the nylon tongue, and finished with a densely printed leather lining and custom sockliner.

Adidas Superstar x Pochoir

Superstar x Pochoir

For London, graffiti-artist Pochoir brings his London street sign satire to a Superstar. Featuring a reflective, stone coloured upper with a subtle printed depiction of the jagged 3-Stripes a totally unique blue commemorative plaque-style heel print and metal lace jewel, finished with a slightly speckled heel Trefoil and stencilled artist logo sockliner.

Stan Smith x KRSN

Artist and illustrator Jan-KRSN-Garet takes inspiration from 70’s and 80’s illustration. His take on the bestselling Stan Smith silhouette features a ‘gold leaf’ print depicting several Fleur-de-lis, distressed gold printing on the heeltabs and an oversized depiction of Stan on the tongue, white metal eyelets and an off-white forefoot stitch. ‘adidas x KRSN Stan Smith Paris 1972’ lettering completes this unique makeup.
Adidas Stan Smith x KRSN
Adidas Nizza x Fakso

Nizza x Fakso

An artist, photographer and key documenter of rolling steel, revealing graffiti at its most uncompromising. Milan’s Fakso sees metal as a canvas, celebrating the tactics, technique and determination of the scene’s key players. On the ankle-high Nizza silhouette, the leather upper becomes a canvas, covered by a large graffiti image. The printed tongue, beige 3-Stripes and yellow bottom eyelet, foxing and rubber toe bumper sit on a black midsole, giving the silhouette the dark air of Fakso’s prolific output.

Samba x MADSAKI

MADSAKI holds it down for Tokyo with a shapeshifting multi-discipline approach to art that refuses to be tethered, and his take on the Samba takes the soccer training shoe into new territories without losing sight of the shoe’s original appeal. A patterned soft leather lace cover, a reptile-skin effect leather upper, white contrast stitching, scrawled lettering and white highlighted midsole detailing makes for a unique makeup.

Footasylum's KICK’n with LIPA students - Saturday 17th October

Footasylum will be showcasing young, talented musicians from the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA) as it opens it new store on Bold Street, Liverpool, this Saturday.

‘KICK’n with LIPA’ will feature upcoming bands and solo artists at Footasylum’s new store in Bold Street, to give shoppers a flavour of some of the latest sounds coming out of the college, whose former students include The Wombats and Sandi Thom.

Eddie Lundon, of China Crisis and a music lecturer at LIPA, which was co-founded by Sir Paul McCartney, said:

KICK’n is a great opportunity for the students to perform in a slightly different environment to what they’re used to and we’re delighted to be taking part. Most of these artists play gigs across the city and one of the bands on show, Untouched, has already won a national songwriting award.

These are the stars of the future and this showcase features a variety of different musical styles.
Matt Lowery, from Footasylum said:

"It made perfect sense to feature upcoming bands in a store that sells upcoming footwear brands. New and unique footwear brands are an exciting part of our offer and compliment our more established premium products on sale. We’re also really excited about it as a couple of the bands have already received national acclaim".

"We see this as being a long-term partnership with the city’s young creatives and look forward to working with LIPA in the future."

On the day, there will be a 20% discount for students and an opportunity for one person to win new footwear every month for a year. Jeffrey Bowman (MrBowlegs), a shoe illustrator from Converse will also be in store.

KICK’N takes place on Saturday 17th October with bands performing inside and out from 10am – 4pm.

Live acts performing in the store will include:

Erica Vandruen
Zoe Nicol
Guru Vikingstad
Untouched
Prison Area
Dire Wolf

Nike Air Max 1 Safari Now Online

1987 was a very good year.

Legendary Nike designer Tinker Hatfield designed two bangers that would revolutionise the sneaker game forever.

The Air Max 1 in its classic red and blue came equipped with the very first visible airbag. Once people could see the tech they couldn't help but get a pair just to feel the cush. Arguably, this is the shoe that turned jogging into running.

That very same year Nike dropped a bomb called the Air Safari, a wild looking little monster that sported a crazy print, combined with an eye-popping, black and orange colour-up. These wild bunnies not only performed, they drove people bananas and everyone copped a pair thinking they were Dr Livingston adeptly navigating the deepest, darkest jungle.

Direct your peepers at these crazies, recreated in all their glory for you in 2009 and available to buy online and instore from Footasylum.

Adidas Brand Pack at Footasylum

To celebrate their 60th anniversary, Adidas have created a number of limited edition projects involving five of their most iconic styles. With an August release date, the new Five-Two-3 ‘brand pack’ is one of the most eagerly anticipated and features collaborations with five brands from around the world. These include a Nizza x Porter, Superstar x X-Large, Stan Smith x Maharishi, Samba x Stone Island and a Forum x Nom de Guerre. Coming soon to Footasylum, keep checking the site to make sure you don't miss out.

Adidas Superstar x X-Large

Japanese brand X-Large have chosen to work with the Superstar. Synonymous with artists such as the Beastie Boys in the 90s, X-Large helped define streetwear as we know it.

Tinchy Stryder Star in the Hood Brand T-Shirts

They have used a vivid multi-coloured fade on a snakeskin effect leather upper, with black suede 3-stripes and the reworked X-Large Trefoil logo on the heel tab. The suede tongue features both Adidas and XL branding. The colab is completed with six sets of coloured laces emblazoned with the slogan, “Getting no respect since ‘91”.

Adidas Stan Smith x Maharishi

Maharishi, born in 1994 is now one of the UKs most influential brands. Maharishi chose to put their own stamp on the iconic Stan Smith tennis shoe.

In line with their strong military influences, the upper of this Stan Smith is finished in a blue chambray fabric inspired by WWII naval shirting. The Maharishi logo features on the tongue and heel whilst metal eyelets form the famous three stripes. A ‘Mahadidas’ sockliner completes this truly unique shoe.

Adidas Nizza x Porter

Japan’s Porter brand is renowned for great luggage. Their orange-lined Tanker series has been part of their collection since 1983 and this the inspiration for their simple yet striking recreation of the Nizza.

With a black padded nylon upper and orange lining, Porter’s take on the Nizza features subtle branding and a silver zip detail down the heel of the shoe. The finishing touch is supplied through the Head Porter Tanker Tote Bag that each pair comes perfectly packaged in!

Samba x Stone Island

Italian innovators Stone Island have taken an unorthodox approach to their restyling of the terrace classic that is the Samba.

The upper is comprised of their Raso Gommato fabric, dyed and treated with a colour corrosion, leaving the 3-Stripes branding to do all the talking. As with their clothing, the left hand side carries their famous compass logo whilst the inner tongue carries both Adidas and Stone Island branding. Finished with an asymmetric zip fastening, this is a stunning new look for the Samba silhouette.

Forum x Nom De Guerre

New York brand, Nom De Guerre have chosen the Forum basketball shoe.

A composition of hardwearing canvas and leather, the reworked Forum is based on the early combat boots used by the US Army. In military grey-green, the white ankle strap (referencing war hospital ankle bandaging) contrasts perfectly and the versatile shoe is finished with the Nom De Guerre logo subtly embossed across the front. HUF x DVS

The DVS Doughboy collaboration with pro skateboarder, Keith Hufnagel, are now available in four great colourways online and instore from Footasylum...

This is not the 1st collab DVs has done with HUF - they originally showcased the 1st run of Doughboys a little while back, so these two are definitely no strangers to each other…

This latest creation is simple, yet perfect for the warm days lying ahead. A must have for all you sneakerheads. Why not get a pair in all 4 colours and just rotate?

HUF (2002) by Keith Hufnagel started off as a personal desire to bring the illest streetwear, skate, footwear brands to San Francisco and ended up as a very successful brand with four different locations, probably the illest in-house line and unmatched collaborations, known worldwide, and yet he still manages to tour the world with a Skate team…

Fitflop. Get A Workout while you walk.

Fashionistas are swapping their four-inch heels in favour of FitFlops

Because smart women wear FitFlop sandals and get a workout while they walk. Now ask yourself: what do your shoes do for you?

FitFlop’s patent-pending microwobbleboardTM technology midsole increases leg muscle activity by approximately 10-12% every time you take a step.

They’re the flip flops with a gym built-in: (And FitFlop wearer feedback indicates that the extra 10-12% is so tempting, women now never want to take their sandals off). They help improve your posture, tone your calves, your thighs and your bum muscles and have been reported* to provide relief from plantar fasciitis, heel spurs, chronic back pain, sciatica, osteoarthritis, from lower limb oedema, neuropathy, scoliosis and RLS (among other conditions).

For Spring ‘09, FitFlop is proud to present an expanded collection of Italian-designed sandal shapes in trend-forward colours with sporty and feminine upper finishes along with new slide styles for those who just can’t adjust to having anything ‘between the toes’. So pick a pair, and get a workout while you walk (even Julianne Moore and Oprah have been seen sporting them).
