Footasylum's KICK’n with LIPA students - Saturday 17th October

Footasylum will be showcasing young, talented musicians from the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA) as it opens it new store on Bold Street, Liverpool, this Saturday.

‘KICK’n with LIPA’ will feature upcoming bands and solo artists at Footasylum’s new store in Bold Street, to give shoppers a flavour of some of the latest sounds coming out of the college, whose former students include The Wombats and Sandi Thom.

Eddie Lundon, of China Crisis and a music lecturer at LIPA, which was co-founded by Sir Paul McCartney, said:

KICK’n is a great opportunity for the students to perform in a slightly different environment to what they’re used to and we’re delighted to be taking part. Most of these artists play gigs across the city and one of the bands on show, Untouched, has already won a national songwriting award.

These are the stars of the future and this showcase features a variety of different musical styles.
Matt Lowery, from Footasylum said:

"It made perfect sense to feature upcoming bands in a store that sells upcoming footwear brands. New and unique footwear brands are an exciting part of our offer and compliment our more established premium products on sale. We’re also really excited about it as a couple of the bands have already received national acclaim".

"We see this as being a long-term partnership with the city’s young creatives and look forward to working with LIPA in the future."

On the day, there will be a 20% discount for students and an opportunity for one person to win new footwear every month for a year. Jeffrey Bowman (MrBowlegs), a shoe illustrator from Converse will also be in store.

KICK’N takes place on Saturday 17th October with bands performing inside and out from 10am – 4pm.

Live acts performing in the store will include:

Erica Vandruen
Zoe Nicol
Guru Vikingstad
Untouched
Prison Area
Dire Wolf
Jeanette Vik
Edd Croft
Tina Refsnes
Willy Mcgee
